As artists we have been given the gift of searching. In this exhibition, the artist is asked to consider how he or she responds to being called to be an artist, learning to accept that call, and to move forward with all the doubts, the uncertainty, the questions, and finally the revelation or the epiphany.

Our curator for this exhibition is Julie Christian Bender, and the artwork on this email was created by her in 2018. Please refer to the following link for Julie’s artist bio, her recommended readings, and a few stories from the road of her experience as a very compassionate middle school art teacher.
Julie’s stories from her days of teaching art remind us of stories from childhood, such as Le Petit Prince, The Velveteen Rabbit, The Clown of God, and many others, where the main character finally recognizes his or her self-worth, creativity, or call as an artist.
