Artist Statement
Catherine's spiritual life and artistic soul includes prayerful long runs down Iowa back country roads, and painting mystical landscapes. Her doctoral dissertation entitled "Deep Abiding: Praying, Living, and Loving From The Inside Out" is, along with her weekly meditation/interior prayer instruction among students, faculty, and townspeople, are among the ways she helps cultivate an Incarnational way of seeing the world, others, and ourselves as drenched with Divinity in inter-connective oneness.

The Rev. Dr. Catherine Quehl-Engel received her D.Min. in Christian Spirituality from Washington Theological Union (2014), her M.Div. and M.A. in Religion and Visual Arts from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA (1994), and B.A. with majors in Art and Religion from Cornell College (1989). She is ecumenical and interfaith Chaplain of Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa and Associate Priest at Trinity Iowa City, Iowa.
